There are 173 species of thrush.

• Live in woodland, scrubland and towns.

• Were once regarded as one of Britain's most common birds.
• Eat snails, soft fruit (strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants), making them unpopular with gardeners and farmers.
• Otherwise they eat worms, insects, bread and seeds.
• Sometimes line their nests with mud.
• The average date for laying the first egg is 21 April.
• The song of the thrush is considered the most beautiful.
• The eggs are sky-blue with black spots.
• There may be 2-3 broods per season.
