​CAMELS
​There are two main types of camel:
     -   The Dromedary Camel (one hump)
     -   The Bactrian Camel (two humps)
​
  • Their milk is much better than cow's milk as it is lower in fat and sugar and higher in iron and vitamins.
  • Have wide, flat, leathery pads with two toes on each foot.
  • When it places its foot on the ground, the pads spread so that it stops the foot from sinking into the sand.
  • Does not store water in its hump.
  • The hump is a mound of fatty tissue from which the camel gets its energy when food is scarce.
  • Can last 17 days without drinking.
  • Drink over 100 litres of water at once.
  • It takes 10 seconds to drink 30 gallons of water.
  • The  thick coat reflects the sunlight.
  • Have long eyelashes, ear hair and open and close their nostrils.
  • Spit.
  • Can live to the age of 50.
  • The milk does not curdle.
  • Are born without humps.
  • The most feral camels are found in Australia.
  • Camel urine is as thick as syrup.
