There are approximately 2,700 different kinds of worms.
LEECHES
Earthworms are split into three categories:
1. Epigeic worms ............. surface dwellers
2. Endogeic worms .......... upper soil worms
3. Anecic worms .............. deep burrowing worms
There are approximately 2,700 different kinds of worms.
- Eat dirt, decaying roots, leaves, animal manure and also decomposing animal remains.
- Will also eat stale bread, crushed egg shells, fruit scraps and peels.
- In one acre of land, there can be more than one million earthworms.
- Are cold-blooded.
- Baby worms are not born. They hatch from cocoons smaller than a grain of rice.
- Are hermaphrodites (both sexes in one animal), but they can cross fertilize.
- Eat their weight each day.
- Communicate by snuggling together.
- Earthworms have 5 hearts.
- If you feed Silkworms with mulberry leaves sprayed with pink fabric dye, they will make pink silk.
- Tapeworms can cause epilepsy.
LEECHES
- Can take up to 200 days to digest a meal.
