​RACOONS
There are 6 species of raccoons.

• Can purr, whistle, growl, hiss and scream.​
• Like to live in wooded areas near to rivers, lakes and streams, as well as mountainous and urban areas.
• Like to wash their food before eating it.
• Eat plants, roots, nuts, grain, insects, worms, birds, rubbish and fish.
• Usually nocturnal.
• Are intelligent and have good memories.
• Can live for 17 years, but most will not make it past the age of 2.

​A relative of the Racoon is a Coati and is found mostly in Mexico, and Central and South America.
