GOATS
  • Were one of the first animals to be tamed by humans.
  • Can live up to 20 years.
  • Are good swimmers.
  • Have regional accents!
  • Were kept by sailors on ships, for their milk.
  • The milk has a higher butterfat content than cow's milk.
  • The milk is the most easily digested milk from any animal (used by those who are lactose intolerant.
  • Are browsers, not grazers - they are fastidious eaters.
  • Have no teeth in their upper jaw. 
  • Soap made from the milk is often used by people with skin disorders, such as eczema.
  • Wild goats don't sleep.
  • Make good pets.
  • Can be housetrained - much like a puppy.
  • Hold their tails up whilst sheep have their tails handing down.
  • Eyes have rectangular pupils which allow them to watch over their broad, flat grazing area for predators.
  • Morocco goats climb Argan trees to eat the berries. The fruit has the nut inside which is used to make delicious cooking oil. Goats spit or excrete these nuts, which then farmers use to make the Argan oil.
  • Cannot cry.
  • A Chamois is a goat-antelope species native to the mountains in Europe.
